BAE Systems is a global defense, aerospace and security company employing around 88,200 people worldwide. Their wide-ranging products and services cover air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology, and support services.
Employed at BAE Systems’ San Diego Ship Repair is an Avenger cutter with plasma head, marking head, and an oxy-fuel cutting head. The ship repair yard’s Avenger is used to cut steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.

The following images show an R.J. Kates retro-fit of an older Lockformer/Vulcan cutting machine. The machine was stripped; then the drive package, control systems and plasma heads were replaced with new Hypertherm equipment.

The upper-left image was the old Messer cutting equipment that was removed. The other images are of the new Messer equipment with the new Hypertherm CNC system.
